Whitening Treatments
How polanight works: We make custom fitted trays to allow you to whiten your smile at home while you sleep. You can wear the trays with polanight inside overnight or for as little as 40 minutes a day (depending on the concentration subscribed to you). You repeat this procedure for about 5-14 nights depending on your needs.

ZOOM! 2 Tooth Whitening is the latest, most effective in-office tooth whitening procedure available. With ZOOM! 2, you’ll see results almost immediately. Unlike other teeth whitening procedures, with ZOOM! 2 Tooth Whitening, teeth are typically six to 10 shades lighter in one short office visit.

How ZOOM! 2 Tooth Whitening works: This very safe teeth whitening procedure is easily performed in our dental office. The ZOOM! 2 Tooth Whitening gel is applied to the enamel (the protective coating) of the tooth and heated with a special lamp. The heat breaks down the gel and releases oxygen into the teeth’s dentin (the main, hard part of the tooth). This oxygen bleaches the teeth without harming them.

Tooth-Coloured Fillings
If you are unhappy with your current metal fillings or chipped teeth, we can restore them with white fillings that look more natural. White fillings, also called composite fillings, are made from tooth-coloured materials that restore the natural appearance of a decayed or previously filled tooth. They blend well with tooth enamel and don’t look like fillings. An advantage of composite fillings, as compared with other dental restorations, is that they require less of the healthy part of a tooth to be removed to hold the filling in place. This is due to composite materials’ ability to bond to teeth adhesively.

How it works: An adhesive is carefully applied followed by several thin layers of tooth-coloured composite. Once the filling is in place, it is chemically hardened, or cured, for less than a minute with a special light. Other types of white fillings include composite inlays and porcelain inlays and onlays. Inlays and onlays are used to restore teeth that are badly damaged by decay or wear.

Veneers & Bonding
We can restore broken and chipped teeth to their original beauty.

Veneers
Veneers are used to close gaps or cover teeth that are stained, poorly shaped, or slightly crooked. Even the subtlest change in your smile can make a dramatic difference in the way you look and feel. Having a tooth “veneered” is a procedure requiring just a few appointments.

How it works: To provide form and help strengthen a veneer, a small amount of enamel may be removed from the front and edge of the tooth. An impression of the tooth is then made and sent to a dental laboratory where the veneer is made to match the colour and shape of your teeth according to your needs. When it is time to attach the veneer, your tooth is prepared by roughing the front surface with a mild etching solution. Using composite resin cements, the veneer is set in place.

Bonding
Bonding is a term used to describe a number of procedures that involve applying composite resins to the tooth. Bonding is often completed in one visit and often does not require the use of anesthesia or drilling.

How it works: The process involves preparing the tooth surface with an etching solution that allows the composite resin to adhere. To match the colour of your teeth, various colours of resins are carefully blended so the bonded tooth will look natural. The resin is applied, contoured into the proper shape and hardened using a special light or chemical process. It is smoothed and polished to appear natural. A follow-up appointment may be required for final polishing and finishing.

Crowns & Bridges
Crowns
When a tooth is fractured, severely damaged by decay, or has a large old filing, a crown (also called a cap) is often placed. A crown strengthens the tooth, protects the remaining tooth structure and can improve appearance. The location of the tooth, the intensity of the bite, and your needs are some of the factors used in deciding which type of crown is best for you. Crowns are made of metal, ceramic, or a combination of the two. They are fitted to a model of your mouth that is made at the time the teeth are prepared in your mouth. The crown is shaped and fitted to this model in the laboratory before inserted in your mouth. This process ensures that the crown will have a fit and appearance that will last for many years.

Bridges
A bridge is a replacement tooth that is supported and attached by a crown on either side of the space. The two side teeth or (anchor teeth) are prepared to provide support the bridge. A bridge is made of very strong materials, but nothing as strong as natural tooth structure. If normal care and precautions and care are taken, a bridge can last for many years.

Root Canals
We help ensure your comfort before, during and after treatment. Endodontic treatment can safely and comfortably save a tooth that otherwise would have to be removed. Remember, a healthy restored tooth is always better than an artificial one.

When the pulp is diseased or injured and unable to repair itself, the pulp dies. The most common cause of pulp death is tooth fracture, trauma or a deep cavity that exposes the pulp to saliva. The bacteria found in saliva causes infection inside the tooth. Left untreated, the infection eventually causes the pulp to die. Pus can build up at the root tip, forming an abscess that can destroy the supporting bone that surrounds the tooth. If the damaged or diseased pulp is not removed, the tooth and surrounding tissues become infected. Pain and swelling may accompany the infection. Even in the absence of pain, certain by products of a diseased pulp can injure the bone that anchors your tooth in the jaw. Without Endodontic treatment, your tooth will eventually have to be removed.

Dentures & Partials
Complete Dentures
Complete dentures are used to replace teeth when there are no teeth remaining. The teeth are prefabricated acrylic that comes in many sizes, shapes, and shades. They are processed into a custom made acrylic base that is made to intimately and comfortably fit the gum tissue in your mouth.

Making a quality complete set of dentures usually takes five appointments. Every patient presents with a unique shape of their oral tissue and relationship of their upper and lower jaws. Each patient also has unique esthetic requirements depending on the size, shape, and tone of their face and jaws. Each of these five appointments is crucial for a final denture, which looks, fits, and works well.

Partial Dentures
A partial denture is a removable appliance that replaces missing teeth. It is held in place by your existing teeth. Each partial is custom made to fit your mouth. It is important that these teeth are healthy in order to support your partial; often they may need treatment prior to making the partial.

A partial can restore esthetics and function to your mouth. Since you lost some teeth you may find it more difficult to chew as well as you used to. The partial can give you back much of this function, though not as much as natural teeth. A partial can also help stabilize your remaining teeth. This stabilization can minimize tooth drift, bite changes, and periodontal problems.

Extractions
Removing a tooth is necessary when decay or an abscessed tooth is so severe that no other treatment will cure the infection. Removing the tooth can help keep infection from spreading to other areas of your mouth.

Before removing your tooth, you’ll receive a local anesthetic to numb the area where the tooth will be removed. A general anesthetic may be used, especially if several or all of your teeth need to be removed. General anesthetic prevents pain in the whole body and will make you groggy or sleep through the procedure.

After the tooth is removed, you may need stitches. You can gently bite down on a cotton gauze pad placed over the wound to help stop the bleeding. The removed tooth can be replaced with an implant, a denture, or a bridge. In most cases, the recovery period lasts only a few days.

Implants
A dental implant is used to replace missing roots and support replacement teeth, which may be fixed to the implant. Implants are not for everyone. You must be in good general health, have healthy gums and enough bone in your jaw to support the implant. Because implants stick to the bone, false teeth attached to implants look and act much like natural teeth.

Here’s basically how an implant is done:

Step 1 A small metal post is inserted into your jawbone.

Step 2 Over time, the post will bond with the bone around it.

Step 3 The post (or implant) will act like an anchor to hold one or more false teeth in place.
